Look Back Dates

The Look Back Dates application is a specialized timing tool designed to project future pivotal dates by reflecting prior pivot intervals forward from a selected focal date. It is intended for traders and cycle researchers who want to examine whether past timing relationships may repeat in future market structure.

The application operates by allowing the user to define a start date and an end date, with the end date serving as the focal point for all projections. A bar strength selection ranging from 5 to 20 days enables the program to identify significant pivot highs and lows within the selected date range.

Once the pivot dates are identified and displayed, the software measures the exact number of calendar days between each prior pivot and the focal date. These measured intervals are then projected forward from the focal date, generating a series of potential future pivot dates. For example, if a prior pivot occurred 8 days before the focal date, that same 8-day interval is extended forward to identify a possible future turning point.

This process is repeated across all qualifying pivot dates, producing a forward projection model based entirely on historical timing relationships. The underlying principle is that market behavior may exhibit symmetry, where past intervals reappear as future timing windows.

Key Functions

• Accepts a user-defined start date and end date
• Uses the end date as the focal date for all projections
• Allows bar strength selection from 5 to 20 days
• Identifies and displays pivot highs and lows within the selected range
• Measures calendar-day intervals between prior pivots and the focal date
• Projects those intervals forward to generate potential future pivot dates
• Displays projected dates in a clear, organized format
• Exports results to a CSV file for further analysis

Output

The software produces a structured table of projected future dates based on the calendar-day spacing of prior pivot points. This allows the user to identify clusters or recurring timing relationships that may indicate potential future market turning points. By reflecting past timing forward, the application provides a simple but powerful framework for analyzing cyclical behavior in the markets.
